Who is DAS?

DAS is a market leader for before the event (BTE) and after the event (ATE) legal expenses insurance in the UK. We work with more than 1400 broker partners in the UK.

We write all our policies in-house; our team of underwriters and experts provide an excellent service to our business partners.

What is legal expenses insurance (LEI)?

Legal expenses cover is designed to protect your clients from the impact of common legal issues such as employment disputes, issues with neighbours or consumer rights.

The cover could offer your clients affordable access to justice, including expert legal advice, help with tribunals and, should the need arise, cover for legal fees.

What types of product do you offer?

We offer a number of before the event legal expenses insurance products including family, motor and commercial policies. For a full breakdown of what’s typically covered by our cover please visit our product pages.

We also offer commercial ‘after the event’ (ATE) insurance. Speak to one of our team to find out more.

What is after the event (ATE) insurance?

ATE is a type of legal expenses insurance taken out after a legal dispute has arisen. This cover is designed to protect your clients from the costs associated with legal action pursued through the courts. ATE products typically cover a variety of legal costs including counsel’s fees, court fees and expert reports.

How do I sign up?

If you’d like to sign up as a partner you can contact us for a quote or get an online quote here. It is a relatively straightforward process; we just need a few details in order to sign you up as an agent and ensure that all parties are happy.

What are the benefits of working with DAS?

Our broker partners have access to a number of resources to improve the service we office including our Business Partner Toolkit and eClaims portal. We also offer broker training to help improve the wider awareness of our products.

Our policies typically include access to legal advice lines and in some case counselling services. In addition, your clients could also have access to our legal document drafting services.

When will I receive a renewal notice?

You should receive a renewal notice from our underwriting team no later than 6 weeks before the end of your current contract. If you haven’t heard anything from our team by this time, please get in touch.

How do my clients make a claim?

Your clients simply have to call the number provided in their policy document, or they can download a claims form. We will assess your client’s claim and review their prospects of success.

Our claims handlers will work with your clients from start to finish to ensure they receive all the support they need. In our experience the majority of cases do not end up in court, but if an agreement can’t be reached, we will assign a lawyer to manage the case.
